A guiding principle in the Meditation Lab program is the idea that before we formally teach mindfulness to students we must teach our faculty how to practice.  A teacher’s own self-care, self-awareness, and personal mindfulness practice serves as an essential model for their students. 

The Meditation Lab is working with today’s educators to build healthy thriving schools. Teaching is one of the most complicated jobs today.  Educators are arguably the most important members of our society. They give children purpose, set them up for success as citizens of our world, and inspire them to do well and succeed in life.  Their caring attitude, enthusiasm, love of learning and desire to make a difference in the lives of young people makes teachers invaluable. With all these qualities required, it’s no wonder that this demanding work can result in stress and burnout.

Practicing mindfulness regularly can help educators feel more calm, effective, creative, and confident.  By reducing the risk of teacher burn-out, students are less likely to miss out on their talents.

In each Meditation Lab workshop,  participants gain an understanding of the foundation of mindfulness meditation as well as tools to cultivate a personal mindfulness practice.

Meditations for teachers to use in the classroom 

Build empathy, engagement, and focus in your classroom. These audios help children, teens and young adults build the emotional strength to tackle life ups and downs.  With simple, easy to follow instruction, students can experience the benefits of meditation either at the beginning or end of class. Now teachers can feel supported as they introduce their students to mindfulness encouraging the practice both inside and outside of the classroom.
